Kalpitiya is an unrivalled marine sanctuary with a diversity of habitats ranging from bar reefs, flat coastal plains, saltpans, mangroves swamps, salt marshes and vast sand dune beaches. It enthuses with its amazing wind stats throughout the wind season and its beautiful beaches.

You can enjoy very tranquil holidays here. The nearest small village is 3km away, the nearest big village 10km. So just take a taxi or a tuk-tuk to get wherever you need to go. You could also hire a car, but don’t expect well known hire car agents, there are only some locals hiring cars and there’s also a different driving style as you are probably used to.
Apart from kitesurfing there are other attractive activities like snorkelling, boat trips, dolphin and whale watching or wildlife safaris in the Wilpattu national park.

For a relaxed day just go to the pool or relax at one of the beautiful sandy beaches. Apart from kitesurfing there are some other water activities like SUPing or snorkelling. For the sportive adjustment enjoy a beach volleyball game, that also can be a good opportunity to get in contact with other tourists. A worthwhile experience for the whole family can be a trip to the Wilpattu national park or a Catamaran cruise around the coast of Kalpitiya. There are only a few very simple restaurants in the villages and only some basic, small shops because the people usually eat and stay in their resort, hotel or kite camp.
