Le Morne
Le Morne

Le Morne is a small village located on the southwest side of Mauritius at the foot of the mountain Le Morne Brabant. The west coast of Mauritius is protected by a range of mountains, which makes it the warmest area of the island.

For kitesurfers and windsurfers the coast of Le Morne features trade winds from the left and acres of flat water inside a protective reef 600 yards offshore. Beginners will find here the perfect spot for learning with waist deep and flat water lagoons, whereas intermediates and advanced riders will find their fun in the waves.

Le Morne has a beautiful coast with turquoise lagoons, sandy beaches out of coral sand and gorgeous sunsets, which makes it one of earth’s most beautiful spots.
The impressive mountain Le Morne Brabant, where Le Morne is located, is 556 metres high and the summit covers an area of over 12 hectares. Around the mountain there are lots of different hotels on the beautiful beaches and we have chosen one of the best ones for you.

The kitesurfing area of Le Morne excellently suits to kitesufers at all levels. Beginners can perfectly learn in waist deep, flat water lagoons, whereas intermediate and andvanced riders can enjoy the waves.

Thanks to the constant southeast trade winds, which blow in summer nearly all day long, there are fantastic kitesurf conditions.

You will find choppy water inside the lagoon and lots of different wave spots.

The Centre

The Kitesurfing Centre is located on the premises of the Indian Resort Hotel embedded in shady palm trees with a perfect view of the spot. With its white sandy beach, the turquoise lagoon and the shallow water it’s a dream spot for both, kitesurfers and windsurfers.

Directly next to the Centre you can find the SPA area of the Hotel and a recommendable restaurant.

The waters edge is only a few steps away and there’s also a big lagoon for the kids, but depending on the conditions, the kids’ tuition isn’t always possible in the high season. Thankfully there are light winds in the mornings that are perfect for kids.

The Centre attaches importance to security, that is why they are equipped with two rescue boats.

The wind usually blows from east or southeast and reaches a strength of 7-21 knots on average during summer and 11-27 knots during winter (April-October). Between December and April there can be heavy rain fall.

The area in front of the Centre is intended for  windsurfing tuition and experienced kitesurfers, whereas courses for kitesurfing beginners take place in a protected and in parts waist-deep lagoon.

Le Morne doesn't only a superior place for kitinging in Mauritius but also has a lot of other activities to discover. You can go fishing in the lagoon together with the locals or go on a trip on a fishing boat. Further North you can go shopping in the malls near Grand Baie. An another amazing experience would be a diving trip around the 3km coral reef or just wakeboarding around the lovely coast of Le Morne. There are lots of golf courses all over the island, so spent a cool and relaxed day at one of the most famous golf courses of the island. If you are looking for a sportive adventure go hiking on the stunning mountains of Mauritius and marvel at the pretty beautiful waterfalls or enjoy the tropical scenery of Mauritius with its mixture of Hindu, Creole, Muslim and Chinese cultures. Visit the lovely botanical gardens, the awesome sugar museum and Hindu temples. A memorable adventure for the whole family can be a catamaran cruise on the west coast of Mauritius to see and swim with the dolphins there or just for whale watching. In addition Mauritius features lots of Safari Parks like the Mauritius Safari & Bird Park in the west. You can also go on a Safari Quad biking trip or walk with lions in a Safari Park. Looking for an adrenalin rush? Go on a zip line excursion in the south or visit the Adventure Parks with the Treetops Tracks.
